RATE POLICY
Our policy is to provide affordable counselling, so that it is accessible to as many as possible. We will gladly determine a fee that is in keeping with your ability to pay and our ability to subsidize the remainder of the cost.
This kind of flexible fee structure is called a Sliding Scale. Click on the highlighted words for more information, and call our Intake Worker at 204-669-4290 to answer any questions you have about affordability. Remember to review our accepted Payment Methods before coming to your first session.
SLIDING SCALE
Our sliding scale fee structure is primarily based on household income. However, other factors affecting affordability will be considered if the standard fee corresponding to your household income remains out of reach.
Additional subsidies (i.e., extra reduced rates) are determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to considering your financial need and the availability of extra subsidy funds, consistency in keeping appointments is an important part of maintaining a reduced rate.
If your financial situation should change in the course of therapy, please advise your counsellor and Turning Point will reconsider a more affordable fee-per-session. In the spirit of our Fee Policy, we are happy to do what we can to reduce financial barriers to getting help!
Please remember to bring an accepted Payment Method with you to your sessions.
PAYMENT METHOD
Turning Point is able to accept payment via these methods*:
- CASH
- CHEQUE
- CREDIT CARD
*Please note that WE DO NOT ACCEPT payment via DEBIT CARD or e-transfer. If debit card is your preferred method of payment, you are advised to withdraw cash from an ATM before your session. The nearest ATM to Turning Point is located at the intersection of Main Street and James Avenue (five blocks South of Turning Point).
THIRD PARTY COVERAGE (e.g., Insurance Provider, Victim Services, EAP)
You may be eligible to have your counselling services paid for by a third party, such as your Insurance Provider or Victim Services.
With regards to Insurance Providers or Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), the first step is for you to review your coverage. Psychotherapy is often covered, but there may be specific criteria about the type of practitioner covered. Unfortunately, it is common to require the counselling be done by a Licensed Psychologist. The counsellors at Turning Point are not psychologists, however they hold a Master’s level degree in Marriage & Family Counselling or Counselling/Psychology, and are members of reputable professional associations that regulate the industry in Manitoba and/or Canada.
With regards to Victim Compensation, Eunice Wiebe is a registered/approved counsellor. Please notify the Intake Worker of your involvement with Victim Compensation, when you first book an appointment. Please be sure you have gone through the necessary procedures with Victim Compensation, to have your counselling paid for by them. For clients who do receive coverage, Turning Point bills Victim Compensation directly.
